WHAT: A guided 3 mile art hike for small groups of 22 people to see 8 art, land & cultural sites with music, poetry, storytelling, dance, and installation art
Guided Art Hike Tours start at 9:00 a.m. and leave every 15 minutes.
U.S. Space & Rocket Center will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch with an Apollo celebration and dinner. A number of VIP guests will be in attendance. National media is invited to the event to recognize the efforts of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center workforce and contractors who made the Apollo missions a success.
Special guests scheduled to attend this special evening include: Thomas Stafford (LTG, USAF, Ret), Apollo 10; Dr. Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin (Colonel, USAF, Ret.), Apollo 11; Al Worden (Col, USAF, Ret.), Apollo 15; Dr. Ed Gibson, Skylab 4; Jack Lousma (Col, USMC, Ret.), Skylab 3, STS-3; Dr. Jan Davis, STS-47, STS-60 & STS-85; Bob Springer (Col, USMC, Ret.), STS-29 & STS-38;
Dr. Margrit von Braun, Mrs. Iris von Braun-Robbins, Mr. Peter von Braun; The Honorable Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama; and NASA Marshall Space Flight Director, Jody Singer.
Featured entertainment includes the world premiere of "The von Braun Suite," performed by the Brass Band of Huntsville conducted by composer Stephen Bulla and Maiah Wynne (the winner of the International Music from the Moon Songwriting competition)
Claire Carpenter, Wes Sheffield and Maiah Wynne (the winner of the International Music from the Moon Songwriting competition) will be hosted by Alan Little at Listen Local's Listening Room Experience XIV for an unforgettable listening room experience on Saturday July 13th, 2019 at Tangled String Studios. With two incredible shows at 5pm and 8pm.
